Prepare music and sounds for VTT

Walkthrough

The process of preparing images is straightforward :

  1. Put all your assets into a folder (and subfolders)
  2. Zip the folder

Supported media types

  • .ogg (Ogg Vorbis)
  • .mp3 (MPEG Audio Layer III)
  • .aac (Advanced Audio Coding)

Recommendations

#RecommendationReason
R1Use specific and descriptive filenames and folder namesThe Moulinette search relies primarily on directory and file names. Instead of naming your directory Variants use night-and-rain". Take inspiration from the terminology used by Forgotten Adventures on their live gallery.
R2Avoid deep folder structuresExcessively deep folder structures may cause the displayed path (in FoundryVTT) to wrap on more than one line.
R3Avoid special charactersIt is recommended to avoid using special characters, such as quotes, in folder and music/sound names. While spaces can be used, they may cause issues for those using S3 integration in FoundryVTT. Instead, it is suggested to use dashes (-) to separate words.

Moulinette Post-processing

Below are the optimization operations that are automatically executed by Moulinette :
#Operation
O1All music and sounds in AAC format are converted to OGG format
O2The duration of each music and sound is extracted as metadata
O3An excerpt of 15 seconds (00:30 - 00:45) is extracted from each music track. This excerpt will be used to promote the music on Moulinette Marketplace.
